I wish the parents knew that their child really worked hard on their art project, that way, they would be SO proud to show it off and not just throw it on the back seat and forget it.
I wish the parents knew that their child actually takes responsibility and does things for herself. She cleans up when she spills her milk, she wipes herself after going potty, she knows how to wipe her feet and her nose, to name a few. This way, they would allow her some more freedom to do things for herself.
I wish parents knew that it's ok for their child to make a mess while feeding themselves. I have run into quite a few parents that are amazed that their child sits and feeds himself. It's amazing to know what happens when you let him try...
I wish parents knew that it is ok if their child gets upset and cries. It's a natural human emotion. Of course we try to shield them as much as possible, because we don't want them to hurt, we don't want them to be upset or disappointed. Crying is their way of dealing with the situation in many cases, it's their way of communicating their feelings since they don't have the words yet. Anyway, have you ever had yourself a good cry? Don't you feel better afterwards?
What do you wish they knew?
