So many children benefit from tactile learning. This is, afterall, how we learn what is soft, hard, furry, slippery, sticky, etc. There are so many commercial products out there for tactile learning. Why not make your own?

Get a board and cover with all types of material. Fake fur, felt, sponge, sandpaper, feathers, aluminum foil, etc.

Cut letters, numbers or shapes out of sandpaper.

Create a "feely" box with misc. objects. Let children stick their hand in and try to guess what the object is. Use this idea w/ letter and number magnets as well...let them guess which letter it is.

Make tactile letter cards. Write a letter on an index card with a permanent marker (the others run) and then trace over it with glue (you can add food coloring to glue and mix well) or do what I did, use Elmer's Galactic Glue...it's clear blue or red w/ glittery pieces in it. The kids like tracing them!
